Description
Our project consists of several deliverables aimed at Indigenous youth in Thunder Bay, as well as the general public. We are creating a documentary filmed in Thunder Bay to showcase youth resilience and fill gaps in mainstream media that often paint the city in a negative light.
As a result, we hope that youth feel inspired to join hubs and centres and get involved in their community. Alongside the documentary, we are creating a booklet of resources, hands-on material, and advice to prepare and uplift Indigenous youth transitioning out of foster care.
Lastly, we are building a website to serve as a central hub for the documentary, booklet, additional resources, and a peer-mentor system. This will match youth with available mentors and help foster a stronger sense of community when they may not have support. There will also be an exhibit in Thunder Bay to premiere the documentary and further promote the project.
