Carleton University acknowledges the location of its campus on the traditional, unceded territories of the Algonquin nation. Universities in so called Canada are built on colonialism and the dispossession of Indigenous peoples of their land and resources. The Bachelor of Media Production and Design aims to disrupt colonialism and white supremacy in our teaching and lesson plans by queering and unsettling storytelling and technology. We are grateful for the ability to learn, create, build, and make on this land.
TO OUR PROFESSOR AND TEACHER ASSISTANT
Thank you to Dr. Stéfy McKnight and Ely Pittman for your guidance and support throughout this Capstone project. Your trust and encouragement allowed us to explore our ideas creatively and stay motivated. We truly appreciate your insights and mentorship in helping bring these projects to life. A special thank you to all our partners who trusted us to bring their visions to life — we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to your impactful work.
a Special Thanks from the Students
We want to sincerely thank our professor, Stefy, for giving us the freedom and trust to propose our own idea and follow it through, rather than assigning us a pre-made project. Their support gave us the space to be creative and shape something we truly care about. We’re also deeply grateful to the Wellness Center for believing in our vision and partnering with us when securing a partner felt impossible. Their openness, ideas, and collaboration helped us bring this app to life.
Thank you to Stefy, Ely, and ICI Canada for working with us on this year-long project! We are very grateful for your help and for this experience.
Capstone truly was a space for collaboration, where we strengthened our connection with both peers and professors. We also wanted to thank our interviewees for taking the time to share their knowledge.
We want to give a special thanks to all professors and students that encouraged us and gave their insights to our project. With switching halfway through, it was hard, but all the students and staff encouraged us which helped us stay motivated and excited about our new idea. We would also like to thank the Greenwashing team for having patience with us and allowing us to reshoot our social media video once we decided on our new project idea.
Thank you to Nana aba Duncan, Stéfy McKnight, and Ely Pittman for their time, guidance, and support throughout this Capstone project!
